Welcome to the guide to setting up new patient online registration
This is a simple guide to the steps for setting up new patient online registration. It should be enough for you to get this working. The documents we reference and the full details are here.
STEP 1
MOU
- Nominate practice lead
- Sign the MOU and email Digital Accelerator team to activate the practice.
STEP 2
TEST
- Test the North East London registration website from a patient’s perspective.
STEP 3
PROCESS
- Use with the online registration flowchart and have a process for managing these registrations.
- TIP: Try it out with someone from the practice to make sure it all flows well.
- NB emails now come in from register.with.a.gp.[replace with borough name]@notifications.service.gov.uk. So make sure these arrive and are not marked spam.
STEP 4
DATA
- Ensure you can capture data that shows how you are doing – how many come in per week? Do you register them on EMIS within 48 hours? And are there any problems with the submitted forms? Refer to the ‘Data Collection’ template here
- Decide who will do this and how.
STEP 5
PROMOTE
- Promote on the practice website under “How to register?”
- If the practice has its own online registration process then is this one in addition? Or is it instead (bearing in mind that offering this CCG portal may mean you risk losing people to other practices)?
- TIP: Look at the Harford Health Centre and copy the content. Some tidying up of your own website may be needed – e.g. if you no longer take walk in registrations you need to remove that.
STEP 6
FAQ
- Have a look through these in case of concerns – these should answer most questions but please ask your coach if you have any questions.
- TIP: Include onto website.
STEP 7
GO LIVE
- Plan next steps
- Set ‘Go Live’ date and review with your coach
